House prices rise in Wales Credit: PA

House prices in Wales rose at the beginning of 2018, according to a survey.

39% of respondents of the RICS Residential Market Survey said prices rose in January with 42% expecting further increases over the next three months.

The study also found that surveyors in Wales are the most optimistic in the UK about the future of the housing market.

Despite the increase in prices the survey found the number of houses coming onto the market has fallen.

Estate agent Andrew Morgan said January has been a busy month.

It has been a busier than usual January. More applicants are now wishing to purchase feeling that values are moving upwards.
