Young women from across Wales will be shadowing Assembly Members in the Senedd today, ahead of International Women's Day next week.

The #LeadHerShip day, organised by the charity Chwarae Teg, gives women between the ages of 16 and 25 the opportunity to spend a day in the National Assembly for Wales to discover what life is like for Assembly Members.

The women will take part in a Q&A session with some female AMs and a mock debate on the importance of International Women's Day.

The charity says the event aims to inspire a future generation of female leaders.

We're really excited to be welcoming these young women to the Senedd today.

The #LeadHerShip project is a fantastic opportunity to get first-hand experience of what it's like to be a politician and to learn more about the inner workings of the Senedd.

Women are still notably absent from many decision-making roles in Wales making up just 28% of our MPs and Councillors and 42% of our Assembly Members.

People in these roles make decisions affecting every area of our lives and it's important to make sure that women's voices are listened to and that their needs are addressed.

LeadHerShip is all about showing young women in Wales that they can play an important role in shaping the future and helping them to achieve that.
