Shirley Bassey is one of Wales's biggest stars, and she's alive and well, despite her death being announced to a crowd of 60s music fans last night.

The news was mistakenly broken to over 700 people at St David's Hall in Cardiff last night by former Manfred Mann lead singer Mike D'Abo. He told the audience he'd had a call before the show saying Dame Shirley had passed away, but he didn't know the circumstances.

News of the Goldfinger and Big Spender singer's death spread on social media, but the Cardiff-born star's office confirmed today she was alive, well and working in London.

Dame Shirley has sold over 135million records over the past 70 years and now lives in Monaco.
