Athletes wave goodbye to Gold Coast after most successful Commonwealth Games

Team Wales' athletes are preparing to leave Australia after their most successful Commonwealth Games.

Wales finished seventh in the table behind New Zealand with Australia coming out top.

Sport Wales said they are "proud" of the "record breaking achievement" and said the athletes' performance and commitment would have "inspired a new generation".

Many of those athletes tweeted to say their goodbyes to the Gold Coast as they prepare to fly back to the UK for the Commonwealth homecoming on Wednesday.
