Man arrested in connection with Cornelly Football incident returned to jail after being wanted on prison recall

A 35-year-old man who was arrested in connection with an incident at Cornelly Football Club has been returned to jail after being wanted on prison recall relating to a different incident.

Police in Bridgend are continuing to investigate a serious collision which occurred at Cornelly Football Club shortly before 8pm yesterday evening.

It is understood Cornelly United had been playing a game at their home pitch when a "number of people" were hit by a car.

Eleven people were taken to hospital. None of the injuries were thought to be life threatening and the people taken to hospital have since been discharged.

The 35-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.

South Wales Police said it is aware a "number of people were at the club at the time of the incident whom will have captured the incident on their phones".

Investigating officers are urging people not to circulate the videos on social media as it could "frustrate" the investigation. It is asking anyone with any footage or information to pass it on to police and to delete anything uploaded to social media.
