A woman has died and a man has been taken to hospital with life threatening injuries following a crash on the M4 this afternoon.
The 28-year-old died at the scene and the 31-year-old driver was airlifted to University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff at about 1 PM.
The accident happened on the westbound carriageway between junction 37 for Porthcawl and junction 38 for Margam near Port Talbot.
The eastbound carriageway was closed near the scene for a short period of time to allow the air ambulance to land.
The westbound carriageway remained closed for a number of hours, to allow investigative and recovery work to be completed.
It has now fully reopened after being closed for almost seven hours.
Police are asking any witnesses to call 101.
