Firefighters have confirmed they are tackling a large blaze at an industrial unit in Pontypridd.
The fire is said to have started at building near Pentrebach Road at Glyntaff at around 7PM on Wednesday. The A4054 road has been closed both ways and thick black smoke can be seen for miles.
Four fire engines are at the scene along with three water bowsers. Nearby residents have been evacuated as a precaution.
Fire Control received in excess of 50 ‘999’ calls reporting the fire. The first attending crews requested further fire engines and water bowsers on their arrival.
Nearby residents have been advised to keep windows and doors closed due to the thick black smoke.
