A man died just weeks after proposing to his pregnant girlfriend after taking cocaine on a night out.
Aaron Thomas, 24, asked midwife Sallyann Evans, 29, to marry him on Boxing Day after she broke the news she was expecting their child.
An inquest heard that less than three weeks later, Aaron died after taking eight lines of cocaine with a friend in one night.
Factory worker Aaron and midwife Sallyann, who had been raising three children together from previous relationships, were expecting their first child together when he died.
The inquest found Aaron collapsed on the sofa and died after having double the toxic level of the drug in his system.
In a statement to the inquest, his fiancée Sallyann said: 'He would do anything for us. We were looking forward to a life together.'
She added, 'I can't believe life can be so cruel.'
The hearing was told Aaron was pronounced dead at Morriston Hospital in Swansea in the early hours of January 12th.
A pathologist's report concluded Mr Thomas died of acute cocaine toxicity. The coroner recorded a conclusion of death by misadventure.
Aaron proposed to Sallyann at the picturesque Langland Beach near their home in Swansea.
Speaking at the time of his death, Sallyann said: 'He put every thought into everything he did.
'Me and the children were loved and worshipped every day, our life was cut short with him, but I'm grateful we had this time rather than nothing with him at all.
'Aaron lit me up, and made me work as a person, two halves of the same heart.
He had a wonderful worth ethic, very hard-working for our family, worked extremely hard.'
