Barber prepares to hang up scissors after six decades in the business

A barber from Monmouth has decided to retire after six decades in the business.

Dave Willett began working in his uncle's barbershop in Monmouth back in 1958.

Then, you could have your hair cut for just 10p.

Dave said he has taken the decision to hang up his scissors due to a fall in trade - but it's something he said he will miss dearly.

"Conversation. That's what I will miss. From meeting dozens of people a day. I'm really going to miss that"

Dave has cut hair for over half a century from his barber shop in Monmouth

He said he has only ever had one customer complain and has enjoyed seeing the hairstyles come and go over the years.

"Back in the seventies, the long hair came - The Beatles made us quiet!"

– Dave Willett, Barber

On his retirement, he said he will still keep busy playing golf, darts and going on a two week holiday to Benidorm with his wife.
