Police appeal for witnesses after person threatened with knife and robbed in Colwyn Bay

Police are appealing for witnesses after someone was threatened with a knife and robbed in Colwyn Bay yesterday evening.

The incident happened on Princes Drive, near to the Royal Mail delivery office, at 6:45pm.

Cash was handed over by the victim to the robber who made off from the area towards the junction with Marine Road.

Officers say the victim has been left shaken and traumatised by the incident.

The suspect is described as a white male aged between 25 and 30-years-old and of stocky build. Police say he was wearing a dark grey and blue tracksuit top and a baseball cap at the time.

This was a particularly callous, cowardly attack on a young man who was in the area intending to enjoy a night out.

I would like to reassure the local community that incidents such as this are rare, but would ask that members of the public be on their guard if out walking alone at night.

There will be increased police patrols in the area and a team of detectives are in the process of examining CCTV and speaking to witnesses.

I would like to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at around 6:45pm on the evening of Saturday 18th August, and especially from any drivers who have been travelling along Princes Drive and who may have dash cam footage.
