Thousands of historic sites across Wales face ruin, warn campaigners

The top five tourist attractions in Wales are buildings linked to our heritage and culture. Tourism brings in over £3bn to the economy and is a key priority for the Welsh Government.

So why are 3,000 heritage buildings on the verge of falling down? Wales this Week investigates the matter in a programme that'll be broadcast on ITV1 Wales tonight.

Architectural historian Mark Baker is calling for local authorities to do more to preserve buildings under their control, blaming a "lack of understanding" on the part of councils to properly maintain important sites.

"They have a fear they'll end up with the bill" he says.
