South Wales Police say the body recovered from the River Taff in Pontypridd on Sunday is highly likely to be that of missing 28-year-old Joseph Lacey.
The body was discovered by a member of the public at around 9pm that night.
Mr Lacey, who was from the area, was last seen sat outside Pontypridd train station in the early hours on Monday (August 20), after visiting two bars.
A police spokesperson said although a formal identification has not yet taken place, the body is believed to be Mr Lacey's.
They added that there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the discovery.
South Wales Police are appealing for information over a missing 28 year-old man.
Joseph Lacey, from Pontypridd, was last seen sat outside Pontypridd train station in the early hours on Monday (August 20) at around 00:30am.
A police spokesman said that Mr Lacey had been inside the Soul Suite and the Morgan’s Taver that evening.
“We need to speak to anybody who saw Joseph in the very early hours of Monday" said DI Phil Camm.
“His disappearance is out of character, and we are concerned for his wellbeing."
