Concert 300ft underground
A concert has been held at Big Pit in Blaenavon this morning in memory of those who have lost their lives in coal mines.
Mining memorial concert: 'We wanted to do something fitting'
A concert to commemorate those who have lost their lives in coal mines has taken place 300 feet below ground at the Big Pit museum in Blaenavon.
A minute's silence was also held.
The performers say besides paying tribute to fallen miners, they were keen to celebrate the positives mining has brought to Wales.
Preparations begin for underground concert
Preparations are under way for a concert in memory of Welsh miners who lost their lives in underground accidents. An upright piano is also being lowered 300ft underground at Big Pit in Blaenavon. Our reporter, David Wood, sent a photograph.
