Floods postman thanked

The Welsh Secretary David Jones will be in Ruthin today giving thanks to those who helped during the flooding. He'll present a bottle of House of Commons scotch to the local postman who was delivering letters when the floods hit and raised the alarm.

A thank you to the postie who helped in the floods

The floods which hit Ruthin and St Asaph earlier this month caught many by surprise but residents on the Glasdir estate were given warning thanks to local postmen.

An on duty-postman summoned help from some of his colleagues to try to save valuables and check people were ok.

Today, Welsh Secretary David Jones went back to say a personal thank you. Ian Lang was with him.

A special delivery for Ruthin postie

It's normally the postie's job to deliver gifts at this time of year but today a postman in Ruthin will be the one receiving a special delivery.

Following the floods earlier this month, Welsh Secretary David Jones, will visit the Glasdir Estate in Ruthin to offer his personal thanks to the postman who summoned help from the local sorting office as he began to see the water rising.

Eleven staff came out to help residents save their valuables and check that people were safe.

As a gift to say thank you the Welsh Secretary will give the staff a bottle of House of Commons scotch.
