Santa flash mob army descend on Cardiff

Students from Wyedean Sixth Form near Chepstow donned red Santa outfits and performed a 'flash mob' for passers by in Cardiff. Over 100 Santas descended on the capital to raise money for homelessness charity Shelter Cymru.

A ‘flash mob’ is where a group of people assemble suddenly in a public place to dance, sing or entertain passers-by.

The year 12 and 13 pupils recently supported the homeless by camping out in the school grounds to make themselves aware of the harsh conditions that homeless people face.

Yesterday morning the santas started appearing in locations throughout the town before breaking into a song and dance routine for around three minutes at 9.30am.

Mr Thomas said: “We want students to develop empathy for people who are homeless – most often not of their own choice.”
