Oxfam: Business rates relief cut would mean closing shops
Val Griffiths, who is an area manager for Oxfam in Wales, says that cuts to business rates relief for charities would 'inevitably mean having to close some of our shops on the high street.'
The Charity Retail Association, along with a number of charities, has handed in a petition to the Welsh Assembly today calling on it to reject changes which would see business rate changes restricted.

Chris Sutton, from the Business Rates Advisory Group, says the review into rates paid by charity shops is needed to make sure there's a "fair level playing field" for smaller businesses.
The Welsh Government has responded to concerns raised by the Charity Retail Association over changes to business rates relief.
– A spokesperson for the Welsh GovernmentProfessor Brian Morgan, chair of the independent panel that produced the review into business rates for the Welsh Government earlier this year, has been asked by Business Minister Edwina Hart to examine the issue of business rates relief for charities, as well as social enterprises and credit unions.
Professor Morgan held a call for evidence which closed in December 2012. He will be bringing charities, business and other stakeholders together to discuss the issues and will be reporting back in early spring.
