"I felt we probably deserved a point on the basis of that second half performance" says Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay.
"We shot ourselves in the foot a bit and we gave away two goals which we would normally never concede and that made it very difficult.
"But we put in a spirited second half and we got one back and to be honest we had enough chances to have got the leveller."
Cardiff's lead at the top of the Championship has narrowed to five points after losing 2 - 1 at Middlesbrough.
The Bluebirds were trailing by 2 goals at the break, although Aron Gunnarsson pulled one back in the second half.
Despite having fairly equal possession the Bluebirds are trailing two nil at the Riverside. Kieron Dyer and Sammy Ameobi with the goals for the home side.
Cardiff City travel north to take on Middlesborough this afternoon.
