An open-top bus parade will be held in the Welsh capital this evening in celebration of Cardiff City's league success and promotion to the top flight.

The double-decker buses will make their way down St Mary's Street, passing Mill Lane corner, before travelling down Callaghan Square and Lloyd George Avenue to Cardiff Bay.

Although the parade will be held this evening, celebrations will be taking place in the Bay from around 3pm - with live music and large screens showing Cardiff City video highlights.

A reception will be held at the Senedd this evening before the team is presented with the trophy on stage in Roald Dahl Plass at around 8.30pm.

A firework display over the harbour will bring the celebrations to a close at around 9pm.

Cardiff Council leader Cllr Heather Joyce said it was 'only right' that the city staged a celebration to mark the club's 'incredible achievement'.

She said: "The event will hopefully give everyone a chance to see the team and show their appreciation for their achievement, as well as give us all another reason to celebrate."
