Welshman Mark Hughes says his aim is to move Stoke City FC forward after being appointed club manager on a three-year deal.
Hughes, from Wrexham, takes the reins from fellow Welshman Tony Pulis, who left the club last week.
At a press conference alongside club chairman Peter Coates, Hughes said he was 'delighted'.
The 49-year-old most recently managed QPR but was sacked by the club last November.
