Pensioner found hurt in road

A 69 year-old pensioner was found lying in the middle of a road in Penarth with serious injuries in the early hours of Saturday morning. Police are appealing for information.

A 69 year-old pensioner found seriously injured in the middle of a road in Penarth in the early hours of Satuday morning "had fallen", police say.

It was initially suspected the man may have been the victim of a hit and run or assault.

But South Wales Police told ITV News they have now "negated" the possibility that a vehicle was involved and say there were "no suspicious circumstances."

Police also confirmed the pensioner's condition is not life threatening.

South Wales Police is appealing for information after a 69 year-old man was found lying in the middle of a road in Penarth with serious injuries in the early hours of this morning.

Officers suspect he was hit by a vehicle which may not have stopped at the scene and has since failed to report the incident. However police have failed to rule out the possibility that the man may have been the victim of an assault.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident in Grove Terrace to come forward.
