The former head of a north Wales children's home has pleaded not guilty to more than 30 charges of indecent and sexual assault.

John Allen, 72, was the founder and head of Bryn Alyn Community, which ran a number of children's homes in the north Wales area.

He appeared at Caernarfon Crown Court his morning where he pleaded not guilty to a total of 39 charges, which relate to alleged offences between 1969 and 1991 against children aged between four and 15.

The case was adjourned until March.

Mr Allen was arrested by officers from Operation Pallial, investigating allegations of historical child abuse.
