Two people have been killed following a car crash in Rhondda Cynon Taf. A 20-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

A young couple killed in a car crash in Gilfach Goch have been named by police.

Lee Jenkins, 25, and Raquel Louise Davies, 23, who were both from the Gilfach Goch area, had a nine-week-old son called Harley.

The engaged couple were passengers in a white BMW 1 Series convertible which left the A4093 towards Tonyrefail on Saturday morning. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

In a statement released today, Lee's family said: "The whole family are heartbroken at the loss of Lee and will cherish all the great times and wonderful memories he gave us. Lee was particularly close to his sister Lucy and brother Thomas.

"He also love his fiancée Raquel dearly and was enjoying being a new dad to Harley who is just nine weeks old. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him."

Raquel's family said: "Raquel was perfect in every way, she would help anyone out at any time and was a beautiful person inside and out. She was a devoted and brilliant mother to her young son and loved her fiancé immensely. She will be missed by all her family and friends from the local area."

South Wales Police is appealing for witnesses to come forward.

South Wales Police officers investigating yesterdays fatal collision on the A4903 at Gilfach Goch are appealing for witnesses to contact them, including the occupants of buses and cars in the area at the time.

A 23 year-old woman and a 25 year-old man died in the collision which involved a white BMW 1 Series convertible.

Officers have viewed CCTV footage and identified a number of vehicles whose occupants may have seen the car on its journey.

Anyone who has any information is urged to call South Wales Police on 101. A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Driver arrested after two passengers die in crash

A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, after two passengers died in a crash in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

The incident happened at around 10.30am today, on the A4093 at Gilfach Goch.

A car left was travelling from Hendreforgan in the direction of Tonyrefail when it left the road.

A man and a woman, who were both passengers, suffered fatal injuries. Their families have been told.

South Wales Police is asking anyone with information to call 101.
