A man has admitted murdering his girlfriend in Newport.

Kristopher Mitchell, 28, appeared at Cardiff Crown Court via video link this morning, and pleaded guilty to murdering Jess Watkins in May this year.

The 21 year old's body was found in the bath of Mitchell's home in Bryn Bevan, in the Brynglas area of Newport.

Mitchell will be sentenced at a later date.

A 28-year-old man from Newport has appeared in court accused of murdering his girlfriend.

Kristofer Mitchell is charged with the murder of Jess Watkins, who was 21, at an address in Bryn Bevan, in the Malpas area of the city, between Saturday 3 and Tuesday 6 May.

He appeared at Newport Magistrates Court this morning, where he spoke only to confirm his name, age and address.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Newport Crown Court tomorrow.

Police charge man with murder of Caerleon woman

A Newport man has been charged with murder after the body of a 21-year-old Caerleon woman was discovered on Monday.

The 28-year-old man from Newport, who was arrested in connection with the death of a 21-year-old woman following an incident at an address on Bryn Bevan on Monday 5th May, has now been charged with murder.

The man is due to appear at Newport Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.

Body of 21-year-old woman found in Newport

Gwent Police were called to a house in Bryn Bevan in Newport today after the body of a 21-year-old woman was found.

A 28-year-old man from the area has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody assisting officers with their enquiries.

The coroner has been notified and a post mortem will now take place to determine the cause of death.

This is a tragic incident and I want to reassure residents that everything that can be done is being done to establish the circumstances of this death. We are not looking for any other person in connection with this incident.

Officers are at the address and any local residents with concerns are asked to speak to them directly.
