A series of collisions have occurred on the A48 road this evening, Mid & West Wales Fire have confirmed.
Six cars and one HGV were involved in the first collision, which happened shortly before 5.30pm on the A48 Westbound. One person was trapped but later released.
A second crash involving a single car happened just before 7pm on the A48 Westbound at the bottom of Nantycaws Hill. One person was released from the vehicle.
Two minutes later, two vehicles were involved in a collision eastbound on the same road.
The A48 Bridgend By Pass is closed in both directions after an accident between the B4622 (Ewenny Roundabout) and the B4265 Ewenny Road (Broadlands Roundabout).
Traffic is heavier than normal on the A48 Southern Distributor Road Eastbound between the M4 at J28 / A4072 (Tredegar Park) and the M4 at J24 / A449 (Coldra).
The road's now cleared and traffic is easing after an accident on the A48 Eastbound between the M4 J28 / A4072 (Tredegar Park) and the A48 / B4239 / B4237 Cardiff Road (Ebbw Bridge Roundabout).
There's very slow traffic on the A48 Docks Way Westbound between the A48 / B4239 / B4237 Cardiff Road (Pont Ebbw Roundabout) and the M4 J28 / A4072 (Tredegar Park).
There's fog and reduced visibility on the A48 around the A476 Llandeilo Road (Heol Llandeilo) / Heol Stanllyd Cross Hands Roundabout. Approach with care.
There are reports of the A48 Spytty Road (Southern Distributor Road) being closed both ways after an accident between Nash Road and Lee Way / Queensway Meadows.
