Cardiff swimmer adds to Team Wales medal haul

John Stafford has just won gold in the 25m backstroke at the Special Olympics in Bath.

He is 60 and a Games veteran. He swims with Cardiff Chameleons, and also won a gold medal yesterday. John was presented with his medal by Special Olympics GB president Lawrie McMenemy.

Competition begins at Special Olympics

Thousands of spectators were at the the Opening Ceremony at the Royal Crescent.

Competition gets underway at the Special Olympics in Bath this morning, after the Opening Ceremony last night.

112 Welsh athletes are competing against more than 1,500 others from around the UK.

Britain's Got Talent singer Susan Boyle was the star performer.

There are 12 sports on offer this week, with Welsh competitors in 10 of them.

The Games are being hosted at the University of Bath, with a few events being held in Bristol.

Competition goes on until Saturday.
