100 special chewing gum bins have been put up around Cardiff in a pilot scheme that aims to clean up the capital's streets.

The GUMDROPs will be there for six months initially.

The project is being run by the council, environmental charity Keep Wales Tidy and gum company Wrigley.

"It is very costly to remove from the street and creates a terrible impression in the City", Cllr Ashley Govier, from Cardiff Council, said. "GUMDROP bins are a great idea and will greatly enhance the options for people who need to get rid of their gum."
