Grieving families, whose loved ones are buried at a cemetery near Ystrad Mynach, say they're disgusted after the council removed items from graves.
A petition's been handed to Caerphilly council, who have temporarily suspended work but say removing items is a policy that's been in place for years.
Locals are up in arms after Caerphilly County Borough Council removed stone edgers, gravel and ornaments from graves in Bedwellty Cemetery without the permission of the grave owners.
A public meeting was held last night where locals were told the council are trying to turn it into a lawn 'military style' cemetery. Locals were assured that the council has suspended all works until the matter can be resolved.

"We appreciate that this is a very sensitive issue and the works have been temporarily suspended pending a review of procedures. The council has adopted a Lawn Grave Policy in its cemeteries to ensure there is a consistent approach to the appearance of the plots.
