A toy collection spanning 200 years goes digital
The Welsh history of a toy collection spanning 200 years is set to be preserved in digital form on the website, People's Collection Wales.
The toys from the West Wales Museum of Childhood in Llangeler, Carmarthenshire, include a wooden John Gilpin horse rider toy dated between 1908 and the 1920s, some of the first machine-washable teddies, made in the 1950s and a Winchester Saddle Gun from the 1960s.
The owners of the museum, Hilary Kennelly, 59, and husband Paul, 64, have been collecting toys for forty years.
People’s Collection Wales is a partnership project between Amgueddfa Cymru – NationalMuseum Wales, the National Library of Wales and the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historic Monuments of Wales. It is funded by the Welsh Government.
