Winger Tonderai Chavhanga got a hat-trick for the home side at Rodney Parade, as the Welsh region led 10-6 at half-time and 15-9 shortly afterwards. Five penalties, a drop goal and a conversion from the Saints' Ryan Lamb put the visitors clear.
The Scarlets fought back from 13-3 down to beat Cardiff Blues 22-16 in the LV= Cup last night. Flanker Luke Hamilton touched down for the Blues. The hosts earned a penalty try from the scrum, and replacement Aled Thomas kicked three penalties late on to ease the Scarlets to victory.
Ospreys head coach Steve Tandy declared himself "pleased with the effort" after his young side lost 23-13 at Exeter. The Ospreys points came from a Morgan Allen try, and eight points from the boot of Sam Davies.
