New Pontypridd Lido would be free for children
Children under 12 and an accompanying adult would be allowed free entry to the new Pontypridd Lido if plans to regenerate the old leisure centre are approved.
Rhondda Cynon Taff Council's announcement comes a week after Heritage Lottery Fund confirmed it would invest £2.3 million in the Pontypridd Lido project.
The Council is seeking further funding to make up the shortfall in the £6.2 million redevelopment.
New plans for the Lido include three heated pools, a café, visitor’s centre, viewing gallery, and a new changing block.
Pontypridd lido plans
Plans to renovate the old open air lido at Pontypridd are dividing opinion in the town. The swimming complex was once one of more than fifty in Wales. Although it closed in 1991, its one of very few which still lie derelict. Under recent proposals, the lido could be back in business by 2015.
