Wrexham woe as they fail to make play-off final

Wrexham have failed to make the Blue Square Bet Premier play-off final, as they lost to Luton by three goals to two on aggregate.

Despite the Dragons scoring two goals at the Racecourse in the play-off second leg this afternoon, it was not enough to see them through.

It looked to be all over for Wrexham early on, but they began a fightback after sixty minutes through an Adrian Cieslewicz goal.

Andy Morrell scored a second on seventy-six minutes to give them a glimmer of hope.

But it was too late for the Dragons. Despite a good season, it is over until August.

Play-off latest spells heartache for Welsh sides

Approaching the half hour mark in the Championship play-offs, Cardiff are a goal down to West Ham at Upton Park.

On aggregate, West Ham now lead the Bluebirds by three goals to nil.

Meanwhile in the Blue Square Bet Premier play-off, Wrexham face a similar fate. They are now three goals to nil down at home to Luton.

The latest scores now mean that both Welsh sides face an uphill struggle to make the play-off finals.

Cardiff City 0 - 2 West Ham (HT)

A frustrating start to City's promotion push as they trail by 2 goals to nil at half time.

Cardiff got off to a good start, Peter Whittingham's shot on traget within the first minute blocked.

West Ham went on to dominate the first 45 minutes of play and capitalised on City's sloppy passing twice thanks to Welsh international Jack Collison.
