Idris Gwilt, from Whitton in Powys, has been waiting for a wheelchair since 2010. After being diagnosed with MS, he decided to purchase his own chair. This particular chair was unsuitable and two years on he is still waiting for a replacement.
A Welsh Government spokesperson said: "The Health Minister welcomes the one-day inquiry into wheelchair services to be undertaken by the Health and Social Care Committee, and has submitted a progress report to the Committee.
"A considerable amount of work has been done since the initial review of wheelchair provision in 2008, including the establishment of an all-Wales programme of action to ensure an efficient and effective service.
In addition, we have allocated an extra £2.2 million per year recurring from 2011-12 to increase capacity and to specifically target wheelchair services for children as a priority."
