A 14 year-old boy who died after getting into difficulties at a Carmarthenshire quarry has been named as Luke Somerfield from the village of Ffairfach, near Llandeilo.
Officers from Dyfed Powys Police rescued the schoolboy from the water at the Cilyrychen Quarry near Llandybie yesterday afternoon.
He was taken to Morriston Hospital via police helicopter, where he later died.
