Mark Williams from Bridgend set up a group for fathers with partners suffering from post-natal depression.
His wife Michelle received help and support when she became depressed following the birth of their son Ethan in 2004, but Mark said there was very little support for partners of women with PND.
The Fathers Reaching Out group now receives emails from fathers all over the world and Mark has been nominated for an 'inspiration' award for his work.
Mark told ITV Wales that he'd never understood depression before his wife became ill with it, and there were times when he himself felt totally unable to cope.
"Not once did anyone come up to me and ask: are you alright?" he said. "Michelle had fantastic support but there was nothing for me."
