– Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Alan Davies AM
I know how much Brynle enjoyed the Royal Welsh Show and I feel truly privileged to be able to present this award to honour his memory today.
This, the second of the annual Brynle Williams Memorial Awards is just the start of a lasting legacy to Brynle's commitment to agriculture.
The winner, Sion Thomas Williams is the kind of innovative young farmer we want to see grow and thrive in the Welsh farming industry.
By standing up for young farmers and supporting them through the Young Entrant Support Scheme we can ensure the industry is fit to face a prosperous future.
The Welsh Government established the Brynle Williams Memorial Award two years ago to recognise the contribution of the late Mr Williams as both an Assembly Member and also as an active farmer.
The award marks the life of the former AM and also celebrates the achievements of young Welsh farmers.
