South Wales Police say the body recovered from the River Taff in Pontypridd on Sunday is highly likely to be that of missing 28-year-old Joseph Lacey.
The body was discovered by a member of the public at around 9pm that night.
Mr Lacey, who was from the area, was last seen sat outside Pontypridd train station in the early hours on Monday (August 20), after visiting two bars.
A police spokesperson said although a formal identification has not yet taken place, the body is believed to be Mr Lacey's.
They added that there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the discovery.
