The family of David Evans who was murdered at his home in January say they hope his death will "serve as a warning" to others who meet strangers over the internet.
Richard Evans, Mr Evans’s son, said he was a "gentle and loving father, brother, uncle and grandfather" and the "violent and needless manner" in which he died has "devastated" the family.
On Monday, a teenager from Abercynon, near Pontypridd, was found guilty of murdering the 64-year-old widower in his own home in Pentyrch. Bleddyn King is due to be sentenced on Tuesday.
Mr Evans said his father met King over the internet: "I hope will serve as a warning to others who meet strangers in this way.”
