Alun Wyn Jones and Josh Turnbull have been withdrawn from Robert Howley’s Wales squad for the rest of the Autumn international series after injuries sustained in Saturdays 12-26 loss to Argentina at the Millennium Stadium.
Wyn Jones, who was forced off before half time on Saturday, requires further treatment on a shoulder injury that will keep him out of contention for the upcoming games against Samoa, Australia and New Zealand.
Flanker Turnbull managed to finish the Argentina game but has since been treated for medial knee ligament damage picked up during the game and will also take no further part in the series.
There has been better news on the injury front for Wales with centre Jamie Roberts hopeful of recovering from concussion in time for Friday’s game. He will again take part in individual training sessions tomorrow before returning to the squad.
Wyn Jones’ exit looks set to be covered from inside the squad for Friday with Ryan Jones returning to full training today, after missing the series opener, while Ashley Beck will provide further cover to the backs after also taking a full part in today’s session.
Howley and his coaching staff have decided against any further additions to the Wales squad at this stage.
