A row has broken out in the Assembly tonight as AMs face being called back to the Senedd over Christmas after they refused to rush through new rules for paying council tax benefit

The Welsh government say the Treasury only told them this afternoon how much money there'd be to help more than three hundred thousand poor families in Wales. But the opposition parties said the government had been incompetent.

The Assembly isn't due to meet again until January -and ministers say a delay could deny vital help to vulnerable people.
