The morning's rain cleared but left showers and colder air, through the evening that combination could see the showers turning wintry. Any heavier showers to be wintry down to just 200m above sea level. Even though it's very windy it will be very cold with lows of 2C.
In sheltered spots we could see icy patches. Sunday starts bright and showery with heavy rain moving in from the west later in the day. A yellow comes back in to force to be aware of rain. Local flooding will once again be a threat with waterlogged ground barely recovering from last nights rain.
That band of rain continues into Monday before another band of heavy showers arrives in the NW later in the day. The good news is that if you're out celebrating the arrival of the New Year, then most of the showers should have eased. New Years Day should be a brighter affair, but could be showery.
More rain is expected during the middle part of next week, and it's likely to remain windy throughout.
