As 2012 draws to a close it looks like the long period of exceptionally wet weather is coming to an end too.
If you're heading out to see in the New Year it would be wise to wrap up.
Even though today's rain has cleared the winds continue to be strong and the air will be cold. By around midnight temperatures will already be down to 3-5C.
There may also be a couple of showers around the northeast, Cardigan Bay and Lleyn Peninsular.
Overnight a few more showers may skirt Pembrokeshire before clearing. Temperatures by dawn could fall to freezing in places allowing for icy patches to develop.
New Year's Day starts dry and bright with some spells of lovely winter sunshine.
A couple of showers could develop later but for many it will remain dry. In spite of the sunshine it will be chilly with highs of just 6-8C and a brisk breeze will make things feel chillier still.
Happy New Year!
