Welsh students applying for university are down nearly 12%

Latest UCAS figures show that just 11,218 students have submitted applications so far for University next year.

According to UCAS about 60% of those who had applied by this deadline had submitted their application by December 2011 last year.

The number of pupils applying in England also dropped by six and a half per cent, showing a slump for the second year in a row.
