Glamorgan axe former MD Metson

Former Managing Director Colin Metson has been sacked by Glamorgan County Cricket Club after his new role of Cricket and Community Manager was made redundant.

Metson returned to the fold amid a turbulent re-shuffle of the county's management in 2010 which saw then Cricket Manager Matthew Maynard, Club President Peter Walker and Captain Jamie Dalrymple exit, with all believing their positions had become untenable due to the changes in management structure.

Metson had been moved to a new role in the community development programme, and away from official first team duties at the beginning of the 2012 season.

That role has now been deemed superfluous meaning the former wicketkeeper will be moved on at the end of the week (Friday 11th January).
