Boy critical after Newport crash

Witnesses are being sought after an 11-year-old boy was involved in a collision with a car in Newport yesterday.

Spytty Road was closed in both directions following the incident involving a grey Fiat Stilo at around 3.20pm.

The boy suffered a head injury and was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport, before being transferred to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. A Gwent Police spokesperson said he is in a critical, but stable condition.
