Welsh company secures windfarm contract

A Welsh company has won its first renewable energy contract from the Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm.

Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd is completing civil engineering works at the Port of Mostyn, Flintshire, after being awarded a £1.1m contract by RWE NPower Renewables. The work will prepare the port to receive wind turbine components and will create 20 jobs for the Abergavenny-based company.

Offshore construction at Gwynt y Môr is well underway more than eight miles offshore, with 80 monopile foundations and the two offshore substations now in place.
