Police are appealing for information in the search for a convicted killer who absconded from HMP Prescoed on Monday.
Brian Grady, 26, is also known as Brian Revill.
In July 2003 he was sentenced to serve at least 11 years at Bristol Crown Court after being convicted of murder and robbery.
He is described as white, 5ft 11ins, of medium build, with short light brown hair and blue eyes. He has a scar under his left eye and speaks with a Bristol accent.
A Gwent police spokesperson said Revill could be in the Bristol area, where he is known to have contacts.
