Mother took four-year-old on Abergele drinking binge

A 28-year-old woman has been given a community punishment order after being convicted of being drunk in charge of a child under the age of seven.

The little girl played while the woman drank double vodkas and at least five pints of lager at the Bee Hotel, Abergele.

Police were called when another customer became concerned. When the woman was arrested, her speech was slurred and she was unsteady on her feet, having been at the pub for about two hours.

At Llandudno Magistrates Court today, prosecutor Tracey Willingham said the woman received a police caution for a public order offence in 2010, when she stumbled while carrying her daughter while under the influence of alcohol.

Defence solicitor Gwyn Jones said the woman had already sought help from the drug and alcohol agency.
