Train services in south Wales were affected this morning when a train struck a person on the service between Penarth and Bargoed.
The British Transport Police attended the scene at about half past eight this morning and reported that, having obtained a statement from the driver and witnesses on the platform, the death was a non-suspicious deliberate act.
Train services were suspended in both directions between Cardiff and Rhymney while police dealt with the incident. Train services for Bargoed and Rhymney terminated at Cardiff.
Train services are expected to return to normal by 12.30pm.
