Newport Council: 'partnership' needed to preserve Medieval Ship long-term
The Newport Ship was saved 10 years ago when Newport City Council made the decision to preserve it.
The project is continuing as planned and the ship’s timbers are currently being conserved. This is a long process that will continue until October 2014.
Work is also continuing to give us the best possible idea of what the ship looked like.
– Newport City Council spokespersonIt remains the council's ambition to display the reassembled ship in Newport, however, this requires a large scale project to deliver this and the council does not have the funds to be able to afford this or achieve it working alone.
The council believes it will require a partnership approach working with national institutions including Welsh Government.
