A Welsh grandfather who was hailed a hero after pulling a shark away from children on a beach in Queensland says he has now been sacked from his job, because he was on sick leave when he made the brave intervention.

Paul Marshallsea from Merthyr Tydfil says he was shocked to return home from Australia to find he was being dismissed from his job working with young people, after bosses saw footage of his encounter with the shark.

Mr Marshallsea has been featured on ITV before for his work with young people in Merthyr.
